Biography

John Price is currently Assistant Professor of Piano and Piano Pedagogy at Northwestern State University where he teaches applied piano, class piano, and piano pedagogy. He completed his doctorate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Oklahoma in 2020. As a presenter and clinician, he has presented at the Louisiana Music Teachers Association State Conference, the MTNA Collegiate Chapters Symposium, the Group Piano and Piano Pedagogy forum, the Remarkable Resources series presented by the National Piano Foundation, and the Inspiring Artistry series presented by the Frances Clark Center. As a collaborative pianist, he has worked extensively with string players including as a staff pianist at both the Heifetz International Music Institute and the University of Oklahoma Summer String Academy. He has also worked as an opera pianist for productions at Utah State University, University of Oklahoma, and Tulsa Opera. He continues to collaborate frequently with high profile artists including principal instrumentalists of the Louisiana Philharmonic and Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Before starting at Northwestern State University, he was a faculty member at Utah State University and Oklahoma City University. He currently resides in Natchitoches, LA with his wife and two children.
