Biography

Dr. Norman joined the School of Education full-time faculty at Northwestern State University in the Fall of 2021. Dr. Norman has served in a variety of roles in educational systems, enrollment management, student success, and adult learning over the past 10 years. Dr. Norman teaches courses in the Adult Learning and Development program and chairs dissertations for the doctoral program. Additionally, she serves on various committees on campus such as the Graduate School Rocks Committee, Preliminary Committee, Comprehensive Exam Committee, and Prospectus Committee. Dr. Norman serves as the Higher Education Representative for the Louisiana Education Research Association (LERA). 

Research specialties: adult learning, adult learning theories, efficacy, self-efficacy, teacher efficacy, collective efficacy, locus of control (internal and external), school culture, school climate, mental health (such as self-care, grit, etc.), motivation, secondary education, enrollment management, leadership, higher education initiatives, recruiting, student success, academic success, student services, and other various theories and populations.
