Biography

With over 30 years of experience in healthcare, Cyndi Harless McDonald began her career in Vernon Parish as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and progressed through roles as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) from Angelina College. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Michigan and her Master of Science in Nursing Informatics (MSN) from Wilkes University. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctorate of Education from the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM).

Cyndi’s primary focus has been in Hospice and Palliative Care for the past 25 years, complemented by a decade of expertise in Nursing Informatics. She holds certifications as a Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) and a Board-Certified Nurse Informaticist (CPHIMS).

With 20 years of leadership experience in national organizations, Cyndi has now returned to Vernon Parish to serve at the Leesville Campus location. As a dedicated member of several professional organizations, including the American Nurses Association (ANA), Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), Louisiana-Mississippi Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (LMHPCO), and the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC), Cyndi remains actively engaged in the advancement of her fields.

Cyndi approaches teaching as a collaborative journey with her students, aiming to inspire through knowledge while fostering an environment of grace and compassion. She views life as an adventure filled with curiosity and continuous learning, striving to be a source of joy, inspiration, and meaningful connections.
