Biography

Tamara Manns MSN, RN, CCRN-Pediatrics, joined the nursing faculty at Northwestern State University of Louisiana in 2021. Ms. Manns currently teaches in the BSN program, first level. While teaching full time, Ms. Manns also works per diem in the emergency department of a local hospital. Ms. Manns is also pursuing her PhD in Nursing from The University of Texas at Tyler with a research focus in perinatal mental health. 

Ms. Manns completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2010 at the University of Toledo, Toledo Ohio, and then earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Loyola University New Orleans in 2021 with a focus on nursing education. Ms. Manns has a vast clinical background including, Med/Surg, step-down, ED, NICU/Nursery, but holds a majority of experience in Pediatric ICU. 

Ms. Manns serves as a faculty advisor to the Shreveport Student Nurses Association and belongs to multiple organizations including Shreveport District Nurses Association (President), Sigma Theta Tau: Beta Chi Chapter, Louisiana State Nurses Association, and the Emergency Nurses Association.
