Biography

Jaehun Jung, Ph.D., is currently an Assistant Professor of Health & Human Performance and a program director of Health & Physical Education, Grade k-12 and Adapted Physical Education Endorsement at Northwestern State University.  

Dr. Jung earned his B.S. degree with a major in Physical Education from Korea National Sports University in 2012, his M.S.Ed. with a concentration in Kinesiology & Physical Education in 2015, and his Ph.D. in Kinesiology with the adapted physical activity option in 2019.

Since 2019, Jung is overseeing the Health & Physical Education, Grade K-12 program at Northwestern State University. He is teaching several major courses in the program, such as HP 2010 (Introduction to Physical Education), HP 2230 (Techniques in Elementary Physical Education), HP 4010 (Teaching Methods in Middle/Secondary Physical Education), and HP 4921 (Student Residency 1). Also, Jung is overseeing the Adapted Physical Education Endorsement program at Northwestern State University. After taking three additional adapted physical education-focused classes, the teacher candidates can expand their teaching area.  

Before joining Northwestern State University, Jung served as a program coordinator of the Individualized Movement & Physical Activity Program, Today (IMPACT) while he pursued his doctorate degree. The IMPACT program provides weekly, 90-minute movement skill and aquatics-based physical activity opportunities for over 90 children with disabilities between the ages of 2-17 years of age. During the 2016-2018 academic years, Jung was leading and supervising approximately 10 masters in adapted physical education students, and over 100 undergraduate student volunteers who work one-on-one with each IMPACT participant.

Jung, as a scholar, researcher, and lifelong learner, published more than 10 national/international peer-reviewed journals and made more than 20 presentations at national/international conferences. He also served as a journal article reviewer in Research in Developmental Disabilities and others. He continues to conduct research regarding physical educators' teaching effectiveness and its' impact on physical activity levels of school-aged children. 

Jung enjoys playing soccer, golf, tennis and etc. Jung and his wife, Uijin, have one daughter, Luna.
