Biography
Dr. Kristi Hylan, DNP, MBA, CRNA, FACHE, is the Nurse Anesthesia Program Coordinator at Northwestern State University, holding the rank of Assistant Professor. Dr. Hylan brings 20 years of clinical experience, including 14 years in the nurse anesthesia specialty, and over a decade of leadership experience as Chief Anesthetist, Assistant Vice President of Perioperative Services, and Assistant Vice President of Hospital Operations. At Ochsner LSU Health, Dr. Hylan demonstrated her expertise and passion for building cohesive teams, developing leaders, and enhancing clinical operations. As a service line leader, her strategic approach to healthcare management consistently aligned operational goals with clinical excellence, ensuring optimal outcomes for both patients and staff.
 
A Shreveport native and an alumnus of Northwestern State University, Dr. Hylan earned her BSN before gaining experience in surgical and neuro-intensive care units at LSUHSC Health. She later completed her Master of Nurse Anesthesia at Our Lady of the Lake College, her Doctor of Nursing Practice at LSUHSC – New Orleans, and her MBA with a specialty in data analytics at LSUS. Dr. Hylan has practiced as a Nurse Anesthetist throughout North Louisiana in various practice settings, establishing a respected practice. Throughout her academic career, she has held multiple appointments, guided future anesthesia professionals, and advanced best practices in anesthesia education. Dr. Hylan is thrilled to return to Northwestern State University to continue building on the success of the nurse anesthesia program and to contribute to the development of future nurse anesthesia leaders.
