Biography

Dr. Shahriar Hossain serves as the Department Head and Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering Technology at Northwestern State University of Louisiana. He earned both his Ph.D. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Louisiana State University and brings over 15 years of experience in academic research and teaching, including 11 years dedicated to industrial and manufacturing engineering education. Dr. Hossain is a FANUC-certified CERT (Level I & II) instructor and previously directed NSU/LA GEARUP programs from 2019 to 2021. In 2023, he was honored with the Excellence in Teaching Award from Northwestern State University.

Dr. Hossain’s research and teaching focus on industrial engineering disciplines, particularly manufacturing systems and supply chain optimization. He has authored over 30 publications in journals and conferences, with his work earning recognition and awards from organizations such as IISE, AAER, and IEOM. He is an active member of the Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) Society, the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), and the Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars (Eta Mu Chapter).
