Biography
Aimee L. Badeaux, PhD, CRNA, APRN, CNE is the Interim Dean of the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health at Northwestern State University, holding the rank of Associate Professor. Dr. Badeaux has been a practicing nurse anesthetist since 2007, caring for cardiovascular patients and patients undergoing major cardiovascular surgery as a heart team member until she left her full-time practice in 2009 to teach nurse anesthesia students. Prior to joining Northwestern State University in 2020, Dr. Badeaux previously served as the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University for five years, having taught as a faculty member for over 10 years. Dr. Badeaux currently practices part time as a nurse anesthetist and is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiologists, Louisiana Association of Nurse Anesthetists, American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society, Gold Key International Honor Society, and Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. Dr. Badeaux was elected as a Louisiana Association of Nurse Anesthetists Board of Director, serving in various capacities over a 10-year period, including President from 2014-2015. Dr. Badeaux has served on the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiologists (AANA) State Organizational Development Committee since 2023 and is currently the Vice Chair. Dr. Badeaux was selected as the AANA 2024 Program Director of the Year award recipient.
Dr. Badeaux completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2002 at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, her Masters of Science in Anesthesiology at Our Lady of the Lake College in 2007 and her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction in 2015 at Louisiana State University. Dr. Badeaux’s areas of research interest are broad and include visual cognition in the anesthesia provider, assessment and evaluation in nurse anesthesia education and emotional intelligence as a predictor for graduate nursing success. Dr. Badeaux has served as an ExamSoft ambassador since 2018, leading the software's implementation and integration in two nurse anesthesia programs. Dr. Badeaux has served as the primary investigator of nearly a dozen grants at the local, state, and national level, having been awarded over $900,000 dollars.
